This is the official contact post for Ali, Deputy Headmistress of hogwarts_elite. If you have a concern or question regarding the community, the best thing to do is just leave a comment here. All comments are screened. I can also be reached via AIM at hogeliteshiznit or e-mail at ariesathena at livejournal dot com.

It may take a few days before we get the chance to remove your application from the queue. Do not panic. Do not leave comments on every post you can find. We will get to it, we promise.

Hey. I seem to have lost membership in some of the H_E communities -- not all of them, just a few, like Muggle Elite. I'm still "watching" them, I just can't post. Uh, is there something I should do? O_o I looked around, but couldn't find another place to post this... Sorry, if it should show up somewhere else instead.

We closed a few of the communities at the end of last term, including muggle_elite and everyone was removed from membership in those communities. (It's all explained in this post)

I submitted my application yesterday, but I'm pretty sure I left the word 'text' out of the LJ cut. I was glancing over my saved application and noticed I'd left it off there, and I'm pretty sure I just copied and pasted once I saw there was space in the queue. :\

If this falls under the rule of 'edit within 24 hours of dropping' I will do my best fix it then.

If not, please just delete the app at this time and I will resubmit when I can. :)

It appears to be formatted properly so your application will not be deleted from the queue. If it turns out that the LJ-cut was formatted improperly, you'll receive a comment letting you know you have 24 hours to fix it once it is posted.
26th-Aug-2007 09:05 pm (UTC) - Length issue
My sorting application is too long for a single post in LJ (at least that is what it told me). So I cannot add it as one post to the queue. Should I split it into two or something else?

I'm going to suggest that you edit your application down so it fits in one single post. While we encourage elaboration, length of that magnitude is not required.

Hello again-- I gave it some thought, and I think I'd rather just keep my application in the queue; I don't think the edit would be significant enough to change anything. Would I have been told if it was removed? If my application hasn't been removed from the queue, I'd like to keep it in, please. Thank you, and sorry for the trouble! :]

You would have received a notification from LJ if your application had been rejected. It's still in the queue.

If you were to delete our application because we forgot to add penseive to the subject line would you tell us? I mean, I'm pretty sure I did, which means if I didn't I wouldn't know. So would you tell us or just let us figure it out?

Well someone from your username submitted an application to the sorting queue in August, it was rejected because of an error and then resubmitted at the start of September. Which seems like an awful lot of work for a joke. If you are concerned that someone has hacked into your journal and is using your username, I would certainly encourage you to contact LiveJournal abuse. However, in the absence of any evidence to the contrary, we have to assume that you and the applicant posted in sorting_elite are one and the same and you are simply unhappy with your sorting.

Look, I understand you're frustrated, but the fact of the matter is, you're hardly the first person who has come to us and said that their cousin/sister/neighbor/whoever filled out an application and submitted it under their name. We've said no to all of these requests to reapply because there is simply no way for us to know if you're telling the truth and we are not willing to set a precedent where any applicant who is unhappy with their sorting can come to us and claim that the application posted wasn't really their own. You may be telling the truth, but there's no way to be certain. Although I would point out that the evidence in this case is not exactly in your favor. The application that was posted to the community was the one submitted on September 4th. So from your own admission, you did submit this application yourself, whether you intended to or not. I'm sorry but there's nothing we can do for you.

I would also add that repeated, harassing comments and emails to the Headmaster and I are not going to help your case. Our decision is final.

We don't allow content to be edited after the application is posted so I'm going to delete it from the queue, but all of the remaining applications will be posted during the next sorting session which starts on the 20th of this month so it shouldn't increase your wait time by more than a few days.
